About the new book
At every stage of life, Jews celebrate. A boy is born, there is a shalom zachor, bris, at times a pidyon haben. Each of these events contain a myriad of customs that often are not fully understood and appreciated. This sefer begins from the in utero/ birth stage, continuing to bar/bat mitzvah, wedding, setting up a house, becoming a grandparent, and ultimately death and mourning. The sefer also includes a chapter on the power of the ‘mazel tov’ blessing, birthdays, and significance of names. Each of the 20 chapters of this book analyzes a different life stage, and gives insight and meaning to the customs and rituals connected with it.
